If you can't beat them...

Quaking Grass ( Briza maxima )

Visiting Kanyl as always we have a walk round his garden looking at how things are getting on and in my case looking for a blip.  This quaking grass, or as we knew it in Cumbrian Dathering grass caught my eye.  (Translation for those who don't speak my native tongue dathering means more or less the same as Quaking).

Quaking grass, well this one, is native to North Africa and southern Europe.  It has naturalised in the UK, USA and a number of other countries world wide.  Briza is shrinking genus previously there were in the region of 105-110 recently 100+ have been reclassified into other genuses.  The leaves and seeds are edible.
