The most northerly D-Day postbox…
…in the British Isles…
Today’s outing took us to the real northern isles, Yell and Unst.
Spied Muckle Flugga from the radar station at Saxa Vord after a wee bit of urbex.
Watched an otter eating in the bay at Haroldswick.
Chatted to a Shetland pony while walking the cliffs on the Hill of Clibberswick.
Remarked on the lack of thrift flowers, probably due to the underlying serpentine rock.
Wondered about heating in the 16th century Muness Castle. Free torches provided for the lower floor.
Cowered from the latest icy rain shower behind the White Wife, a memorial to four drowned sailors from a wreck off Yell in 1924.
