Esha Ness
Not bored of cliffs yet!
Today it was a trip to Northmavine along the wide and smooth tarmac of the mainland, passing Mavis Grind and stopping for fuel in Brae - £1.47l - Edinburgh prices!
We walked along the clifftops at Esha Ness, some angry seas below. Halfway round our loop we reached the wee museum at Tangwick Haa, timed perfectly as a coachload of American tourists were leaving and the next rain shower was starting.
Inside we warmed and dried off whilst eating the custard creams on offer. There was a folder of information about the fascinating local find known as ‘Gunnister Man' - 17th century bog body.
The remainder of the loop passed a bay with 21 seals. An old fishing haaf and a beautiful path lined with pink thrift.
On the return drive home we swung by Scalloway just as the museum closed. Meh.
