El Escorial

We've travelled to Spain on the "trenhotel" - an amazing experience. We got the Eurostar from the lovely St Pancras station, then in Paris boarded the train to Madrid. We left at about 6.30pm to arrive in Madrid at around 10.00am the next day. When you get on, you have a little sitting room, then while you eat your 3 course dinner with wine, someone turns it in to a bedroom. Brilliant! We woke in the mountains near Madrid and ate breakfast looking out at the amazing views.
We left our cases at the hotel and came out the palace and monestery at El Escorial. Much nicer than the guide book suggested!
