Burano And Murano

When we visited Venice previously we spent our time exploring the main sites on the main island and getting wonderfully lost among the back streets and small canals, without having time to get out to the other islands.

Today we remedied that with a trip out to Murano (in extras) and Burano. Murano is famous for its glass and we wandered into a glass blowing factory just in time for a demonstration of the art. The majority of the shops lining the two main canals are devoted to selling glass products!

From there we went on to Burano (main trade - lace) which is famous for its colourful houses. The main blip is of a side canal, which is the only one I managed to get without lots of tourists like us in it.

By chance, we managed to get a fast vaporetto back and then over to Giudecca for a late afternoon drink in the local bar
