Dolly's Day

GREEN LIVING WALL

No lawn mowing for me today as it was raining..  I decided to go to Newcastle.  I spent most of the time inside Eldon Square Shopping Centre out of the rain but I did pop over to the other side of Northumberland Street to drop off a bag of blister packs at the collection point in Superdrug.

I was crossing back over the road when I took my blip shot for the June Community Challenge which is " Looking Up". My blip shows the 167 metre " Living Wall "  on the side of M & S. The installation has been in place since 2015 and consists of 16,000 individual plants including species such as sea pink, thyme, cranesbill, wood rush, hebe and ferns all naturally irrigated by rainwater using a rooftop harvesting system.. It helps to provide cleaner air quality to the busy urban street as well as providing nectar for bees and butterflies and seeds for birds.

I did some food shopping in M & S and then went upstairs to look at the clothes.  I had a £20 gift voucher to spend.  I wasn't hopeful of finding anything I fancied as I've looked in M & S a few times  recently and found nothing.  However I did get a T Shirt today.  Only cost £8.50 so I have some of my voucher left to spend another day.  Walked through Eldon Square to Tesco where I got a bit more food shopping ( mostly fruit ).  Then to the bus stop - by this time the rain had stopped.... which was fortunate as the bus stop has no shelter.

Steps today - 6,890
