What I've Done

By JohnGravett

Unfinished business

Deb and I walked Haycock a few weeks ago in the most appalling low cloud and wind, and did intend to continue to Caw Fell, but the bad weather forced us to turn round after doing just Haycock.

As Deb is away for the weekend, I invited a friend from the Camera Club to join me today, which he did. We walked the length of Ennerdale, and up Caw Fell via a route neither of us had ever done before - and as the path ran out completely halfway up forcing us to "off piste" through heather - we won't do this route again. Finally reached the top of Caw Fell - in thick cloud (again) and decided to add Haycock on to the walk. It turned out longer than we had expected, at 14.6 miles and 2,800 feet of altitude.

The pic is one of the dry stone walls from Caw Fell to Haycock that we were able to follow - the cloud was rolling over the wall from left to right.
