East Kirby

Woke to a glorious day and drank tea on the terrace while FK got going. It was a shocking nights sleep as there had been a wedding taken place here Saturday and they'd obviously made use of the BH wknd and stayed last night as well. Lots of late night door slamming and voices and early morning too!
We set off 20mins away to the Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirby where the re-enacters were doing there thing as well as 40's music and dancing, air displays by B17 and Harvard and the opportunity to win a spot sitting in the taxiing Lancaster. No luck, but what a joy to hear her engines fire up one by one and move down the runway. FK was in his element. There were lots of stalls.... picked up a second hand no3 jacket for when he's at RIAT....displays and hangers open, showing the Dambusters story as well as a home guard exhibition. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, but we were both shattered. I went to read papers on the terrace with a cuppa while FK....slept. A couple of hours later he came down absolutely starving!! So after chatting to a couple of shopkeepers Jaquie and Marie in the lounge, we drove to the village for a recommended pizza as the hotel had stopped serving. We emailed the Battle of Britain museum,  as its set in RAF Coningsby,  where sadly a pilot was involved in a spitfire crash on Saturday. I offered our condolences and requested info on whether they were still open. We'll see in the morning. Chatted to MrK again before bed
