a lifetime burning

By Sheol

... "another one?"

Another sourthern hawker came up from the pond this morning to explore the world on the wing.  That makes 5 so far this year, which is a record, and I'm now pretty sure, the reason for the surprisingly small number of damsel fly emergences this year.

Unfortunately for this blipper, the dragon picked its spot to emerge really carefully and was largely hidden by the irises in the pond.  I did manage to get this side on view though the narrow slit that the irises had left me, but I would have liked to have had some other options really!
