Nectar hunting

This hummingbirdie liked the red yucca in the yard. It's a female black-chinned and while the plant is called a red yucca, it's not a yucca at all.

It's one of those nothing-burger days. Laundry mostly and between loads watched the D-backs win their ballgame. Neighbor across the street called to remind me that she's leaving for Michigan tomorrow for 2-1/2 months. Bummer. I'll miss her.  There's already an excessive heat watch for Wed-Friday. They do that the first time it is forecast to hit 105°/40.6° or higher. That's it. Over and out.

I'm sitting in a cafeteria next to a woman who was engrossed in her newspaper. One of the headlines blared: "12 Brazilian Soldiers Killed."
She shook her head at the sad news. Then, turning to me, she asked, "How many is a Brazilian?"
