Quito Beauties

After a very, very long day of travel, we finally arrived at our hotel in Quito, Ecuador at midnight yesterday.  (Which explains this back blip!)

This  morning we took a tour of the area, and visited the Cloud Forest where we were enchanted by the hundreds of gorgeous hummingbirds of all different types which zipped around us in search of some sweet nourishment from the feeders hung in the trees to attract them.  We also saw many varieties of other very colourful birds (I am no ornithologist, so I have no idea what their names were, but I certainly enjoyed watching them!)

We are traveling with our 15 year-old grandson Jackson -- this is his first trip outside the US, and he is really enjoying the experience!  It's been many a year since I lived with a teenager -- oh how they make me laugh!

We also visited the monument which marks the exact center of the earth at the Equator.  Extra shows Jackson with one foot set firmly on one hemisphere, and one foot on the other.
