Success

Finally - the lupin flower has grown! Only one, but I'm really happy to see it. I think I blipped it when it was just starting to grow. Three years ago, a neighbour gave me the seeds that she'd collected from the lupins that used to grow along the side of our road, always so many, and now there are none. I planted the seeds two years ago and there weren't any flowers until this one. I'm going to buy some lupin seeds to plant next spring.
Edit: found the lupin bud that I'd added as an extra on May 15, so I added it as an extra here for comparison.
Extra: I bought 2 dahlias to replace the ones that a neighbour gave me last spring. Unfortunately the tubers didn't survive the winter. They were beauties! These are smaller but still very lovely.
