If you can't beat them...

Female Great Spotted Woodpecker ( D major )

Saturday so as usual it was prepping the Lodge.  However as I often do I took some "just in case shots" before we left.  I did walk to the bins but it is a while since I posted a bird so I didn't take the camera.

The Lodge turned out to be a bit of an epic.  Over night the toilet in the ensuite had started to leak badly from a joint.  Fortunately above the isolation valve.  We now have our plumber booked for next week and the current guests are happy to use the toilet in the bathroom.

Back to the blip.  Every summer the visits of the Great Spotted Woodpeckers increase.  I think the reason is the adults use the feeders as an easy source of food for themselves while hunting for grubs for the chicks.  Soon I expect that as usual once fledged they will be bringing the young to the feeding station.
