Commemorative train

Not the best of today’s photos but it has to be the one to post commemorating the first train on the reopening of the KESR 50 years ago.

Aboard were many people who were around at that time and are still volunteering. And the iconic Terrier, the annoying engine from Thursday, leading the way. A loco which has been part of the railway for over 120 years.

The extras are of a U class loco rebuilt in 1928, https://preservedbritishsteamlocomotives.com/31806-sr-a806-sr-1806-br-31806/. A guest engine for today’s 50th anniversary gala.

An intensive service which put us through our paces in Rolvenden box with 8 crossing moves. Each train was packed and there were plenty of people on the platform and on the viewing gallery.

Everything worked to time too. What a day
