Seeing Beyond Looking

Lake Crossing

A very busy day. First of all marketing in Lausanne and then a lake crossing from Ouchy to Evian. Amazingly, the billowing clouds parted gifting us with a beautiful blue sky. A welcome change after several days of rain.

I particularly liked capturing the lake and sky reflections in the windows of the boat.

Extra: A little sailing boat as we crossed the lake. Those billowing clouds are so beautiful.

Lovely to see Jean. Several practical things were sorted out for him and I had taken some fresh vegetables and the first sweet and juicy cherries from the market.

A special note about the name of the lake:
"The question: should Lake Geneva be referred to as Le Léman or Lac de Genève? The response: 161,000 views and 2,700 comments. Clearly the question matters to a lot of people.
The body of water lies over France and Switzerland. The larger Swiss bit covers parts of three cantons: Geneva, Vaud and Valais.
In France it is universally referred to as Le Léman or Lac Léman. Among the Swiss naming gets complicated. Those at the thin Geneva-end of the lake have a habit of referring to it as Lac de Genève. Residents of Vaud can bring silence to a conversation if they dare to combine the words “lac” and “Genève“.
The lake does not belong to Geneva. Part of the lake belongs to the French side of the water in an area called La Haute Savoie (the spa town of Evian is on the French side of Lac Léman).
I live in the canton of Vaud, so I exclusively call the lake 'Léman', as do the towns and villages on the French side!
