BBQ time
Lovely warm and largely sunny day. I spent it partly indoors doing last minute cleaning and prep for my guests arriving, baking a clementine cake, installing my new window boxes and partly in a walk around the Meadows. The place was packed with people enjoying the warmth and the first smoke of summer BBQs was rising gently from many of the groups spread around the grass.
I wasn’t sure when they’d arrive and so had quite a slow day, not wanting to go off to do anything more in case they got here early, but it turned out that the first car full arrived about 5.30pm and M and I chatted about house renovations and purchases (as we often do!) then when S&L arrived afterwards we went round to Soi38 for some Thai food, leaving the two kids to get Luxford burgers that they love.
We chatted (or rather listened to S) talking about her challenging time cycling around the NC500 and Outer Hebrides recently, and the challenge she did as an Ordnance Survey champion recently that paired her and two other outdoorsy types with three young influencers who never venture into nature for various cross country activities. Sounded hilarious and horrendous in equal measure….she’ll be all over social media soon with the edited highlights!
We came home and chatted whilst half watching Gogglebox then all had a relatively early night.
