D’oh!

Finally a bright, dry and largely sunny day! I drove over to A&N’s, stopping en route to get a few more plants to finish my potting up of window boxes and hanging baskets. Wasn’t a great feeling though to open the box in the car when I arrived and find no keys there! Argh….I must have stuck them in the pocket of the coat I was wearing when I left on Tuesday. Checked (clutching at straws) if they’d left a set with J&D next door but no luck, so decided not to get frustrated and just count to 10, then take the chance to clear the rubbish out of my car so that I wasn’t just turning round and going straight home!
Went home and had some lunch, did some ironing and then wrote up some notes on next steps on P’s estate work, then headed back to their place with the keys this time!
Managed to power through the things I wanted to do, finishing both my new window boxes and the ones for their front windows. The existing soil in theirs was sodden and horrible as it seems they haven’t been draining properly. I’ll have to get them to keep an eye out for that happening again if the weather continues being so wet. I also did some other gardening, pulling out handfuls of out of control nettles and other weeds from their wild flower area. I was listening to podcasts as I worked, but at one point realised my phone had fallen out of my pocket and worried I’d have to rake through the nettle filled compost heap to find it….luckily not!
Once everything was done I locked up, put the keys in the right place in the car, and drove home via M&S where I bought some supper. Chatted to T as I drove about his interview, holidays, his and my gardening tales from today, and what we were going to make for supper (he’s back on his diet after a few months slightly off the rails!)
Despite having had some d’oh moments it felt like a productive day and, mainly because the weather was much better, a pleasant one to be out in the garden pootling.
Enjoyed my supper then watched Repair Shop and a couple of other recorded programmes from when I’ve been away.. I found I was still smarting up my arms from nettle stings but managed to calm it down by putting some cream on. Tomorrow will be busy when the next set of guests arrive.
