Downtown Train . . . Rod Stewart
This morning we drove across the Auckland Harbour Bridge and into the city to the lovely daughters apartment. She has recently moved from Ponsonby to Parnell. Her old building was to be sold. The move is a plus because she has a larger living area, an underground carpark and a ten minute walk to work. We can't call this one the teeny tiny apartment. We will have to think of a new name. She also has a larger outside area which is all paved but lots of room for plants in pots.
In her view is the former Auckland Railway Station 1930 - 2003.
" it is a grand architectual statement in beaux-arts brick and mortar. The design echos Pennsylvania Station in New York"
Today it is apartments with a restaurant occuping the foyer of the 1930 station. In the extra her apartment building is on the right.
We went for a walk up Parnell rise to see the sights. There are lots of food establishments but the foot traffic wasn't as busy as Ponsonby Road was.
