RadioGirl Friday
A fairly full morning. The surveyor from Clarks Removals turned up on time, and assessed how much there was of my stuff to be moved. He was impressed at how relatively empty most of my cupboards already are, though I do still have a bit more to dispose of. The quotes, with and without professional packers, came through by email quite quickly. I’ll let them know next week. Then on to Amersham to deliver all the signed documents by hand to my solicitor, so she has everything ready for when contracts can be exchanged which won’t be just yet but hopefully not too far off. After that, back to Chesham and a drop-off of another sackful of donations to one of the (many) charity shops in town. Finally, a mini grocery shop in Waitrose to cover meals for the weekend.
I did a bit of research on which charities will pick up furniture donations in this part of the country. My neighbour’s son had tried to give some of hers to a local one, and they refused to take it because one chair had some slight wear, so now I’m worried that it’s going to be hard to find somewhere that will accept mine.
In the afternoon I finished reading the book for tonight’s book club. It wasn’t the best written, but I did quite enjoy it. I think we spent a total of ten minutes actually discussing the book before we went back to talking about everything else we could think of! A great evening as always. Now to sleep, ready for some more sorting and disposal tomorrow. I shan’t be getting rid of my precious vinyl record collection, of which this photograph shows one third - precious memories from my mid-teens onwards, all kept in a wooden cabinet which my Dad made specially for that purpose.
