Painting Session
During these days with the grandchildren I had a canvas put in front of me and a paintbrush put into my hand. It's many many years since I've painted but it was nice sitting at the table painting with Emily and Daniel.
What was I to paint? Emily was sitting opposite me so I began this portrait. of course the children finished their paintings quickly and moved on to something else so I had to put my canvas aside.
This morning I came back to it. She needed a nose. I am so out of practice. I need to get skin colours right for shadows. I haven't done her eyes closed to avoid doing eyes, I like doing eyes, but not with these brushes! At school I liked to work in oils, we didn't have acrylics and I'm not finding this medium as easy.
She wears glasses but I hadn't time to attempt them and all I could do this morning was to create a nose. I just forgot to take a photo of the "finished" work. I'm not blipping this because I think it's good but just to remind me of the experience.
