Not So Distant Hills
After a very busy work day at King's Cafe, what better place to spend the evening but at pottery. The second of the week's community sessions is always a relaxed one, plenty of time for chat. I had recently seen a reel online showing what looked like a very easy way to make a cylinder and fit it to a base. Tonight was a chance to give it a try. Hard to explain in words something that was so simple to watch. In essence, a slab of clay rolled around a piece of plastic pipe. The clever bit is stretching a sock over the pipe first and then sliding the clay neatly off the pipe by pulling the sock through the pipe .... got it? It worked although I always say you learn best by your mistakes :-) code for I made a few elementary errors along the way! Extra pic of the work in progress. It was lovely to have a phone chat with Lovetrees while the cylinder was drying off a bit, just a minute or two after the pic above was taken.
A few days off ahead now :-)
The panoramic shot taken from outside pottery makes the hills look small and far away .... think Father Ted ... but they're neither of those things!
