Lathyrus Odoratus

Angel face

I'm having to dispose of a small mountain of rotting wood left behind by the previous owners of our new house. On the second of several trips to the recycling centre this morning I stopped at St Cuthbert's Church in the little village of Clungunford to see the 19th century stained glass east window by John Hardman. It was a nice enough window but then I noticed something interesting high up in the tracery - the faces of two medieval angels. Probably from the fifteenth century, these fragments are all that remains of the original windows.
