Blooming Blue Agave

This is the third agave on our property that has bloomed since we've lived here, two of them blue ones. It is certainly an unusual and rather eye-catching shape. They literally give their all to put up this enormously tall asparagus-like spike with decidedly weird little 'arms' sticking our from it because then the whole plant dies. They are sometimes called Century Plants for presumably that is how long it takes them to bloom, but in reality it is probably more like 30 or 40 years. Because of the high fructose corn syrup concentrated in the barrel of the plant they are cultivated for the manufacture of tequila.

I was looking forward to making good progress on my Kondo closet project, but attempting to get John an online account for the DMV (Dept. of Motor Vehicles) so that he can renew his driving license put an end to that plan. I have been asking him to get started on this because any number of problems could arise along the way and I thought it would be a good idea for him to see what was involved. When I finally succeeded in getting him to look into the problems arose immediately.  When I came to try to help him we both tried for over an hour to establish an account for him, without which he can't even make an appointment, but to no avail. We found ourselves going down rabbit holes and running around endless loops but no luck in doing what should have been a relatively simple process. I'm sure there is some simple solution to the problem, something my grandson could solve in seconds.

I am now feeling frustrated and beleaguered, while John shows little concern, going off to meet his friend Dan for a beer.

The nation is waiting for a verdict in the Trump trial...the one that could find him guilty of a felony with a judge who brooked no nonsense, allowed no delays and put a gag order on Trump to keep him from bad mouthing and threatening witnesses. I can't say that anyone is waiting with bated breath for half the nation is suffering from 'Trump trial fatigue', the other half doesn't seem to care, and a guilty verdict would inevitably lead to more delays, obfuscations, whining and chaos. (It has to be a unanimous decision and only takes one juror to acquit him).

Looks like an extra glass of wine might be indicated, but sometimes that just makes me meaner....
