Long Meg

Oh dear.  What a day.
Boggy, slippy, uneven.
Barefoot through cow pats.

I haven't got long and it's been a right day.  The walk we picked was lovely, it began at Long Meg and followed gentle paths through woodland and some country roads and fields.  So we were really surprised that Ben struggled.. but the woodland paths were uneven, like a tractor had created trenches in them and he couldn't fit his feet in the grooves or balance on the higher ground.  It took FOREVER to walk such a short distance and then when we finally reached the end there was one more gate to get through and the mud was inches deep.  Mr KCNQ2Haiku and I kind of tip toed through in our walking boots whereas Ben was in wellies, so we thought he could just wade through but the suction caught the boots and he wasn't strong enough to brace his feet against them, so he kept stepping out of them and he got really angry and tricky.  I ended up telling him to take his boots and socks off and just squelch through (gross with the cow pats adding to the mix).  We were both covered in mud (and other stuff) by the end and there was a lot of showering and washing when we got home.  Even Leo had a bath :-D
The rest of the day was a bit low key, we did some jobs and Ben was cross again and managed to pull the coat pegs off the wall by the door.  Sigh.
Nearly bedtime though now and a more towny day planned for tomorrow!
