A Beacon

Out of Elie at 7am and homeward we did drift. Past the refuge beacon - if you ran aground on the rocks at the Vows just to the west of the town,  you could climb into the safe cage to await rescue. Well, only after 1846 when it was built. A rare surviving example.
The wind got up awhile and we had a good sail till we were nearly at Inchkeith when the rain came in. And then rained more and more. So it was a joy to arrive back at the pontoon at 3pm to be greeted by the SK who whisked me homeward. The boat can wait. It’s used to the wet.
