Salisbury Seagull!

As David said, “Nowhere is more than 70 miles from the sea in England!” So here is a seagull in Salisbury!

We had a great day, despite the inclement weather!
We decided to walk along the River Avon to Salisbury as it is Market Day. (Other rivers around here are Nadder, which is a chalk stream, Ebbel, also a chalk stream, Bourne and Wyley)
It’s a long walk! It rained just a little and we had our umbrellas so all good, even though I managed to leave my raincoat in Sutton I think!
Some dramatic incidents during the day in Salisbury:
- at a pedestrian crossing leading to the Market an old lady started yelling “Don’t touch me! You touched my arm!” at the top of her voice and embarrassed a poor man who was trying to help her across the street! What’s funnier was all the other pedestrians around her pretending not to notice and trying to “mind their own business” whilst surreptitiously looking to see what was going on!

- In Marks and Spencer’s I heard some poor old lady shouting, “Help, help! Stop the escalator!” I was standing nearby and looked to see what was happening. There were several people running to help. All I could see was the top of several heads on the elevator. Apparently one lady fell and knocked another lady down like bowling pins. One lady’s walking stick got trapped in the mechanism and broke. It took several strong men to lift them both up to a standing position and walk them to the top of the elevator. Later on I passed that way again and there was a circle of chairs gathered at the top of the elevator and they were safely seated and chatting with some people who looked like they were in charge. A elevator repair person was trying to get it working again. Then the old ladies were escorted to the cafe for “a nice cup of tea”!

Thankfully things were quieter after walking back to our campsite. We were so tired (16,000 steps apparently!)
Yet David still managed to cook a great steak dinner from a “Cowboy Steak” we bought at the market!
