Time for celebration
I planned today and it did not look in any way celebratory.
I was going to the tip, the supermarket, the charity shop, to visit Maureen in new domicile (Carntyne Nursing Home) and then to write letters to people who sent condolence cards.
I was dreading the last job because it meant rereading the cards.
In the event, it rained too.
I liked what I saw of Carntyne. Mum and I visited it in 2017 to see the beautiful garden. Maureen has a nice room and the staff were very helpful. She was trying to decide whether to stay there or try to go home again with alterations to her bungalow.
A main cause of distress was not being able to see her husband, “My Brian”, who is in Haltwhistle Memorial Hospital.
When I came home, I decided to blip this marvellous peony which came in a bouquet of flowers from Aldi.
Looking at the cards was not too bad and I wrote the most urgent letter.
Maureen phoned. Brian will be discharged from hospital to the same care home after the weekend. What wonderful news.
The day cheered. I ate beef stifado and drank red wine.
