Hag Stone

A flint pebble with a hole through it is sometimes referred to as a hag stone. They are also known as holy stones and are believed to confer good luck. I picked this one up on a beach in Sidmouth in East Devon, earlier this month, and took this photo of it in the kitchen this afternoon. 
I also read that for hundreds of years they were tied above beds as a protection against demons and witchcraft.
