Our banana returns to the great outdoors

I keep this banana plant in a large pot so that I can bring it into the cabin to over winter. Spring has supposedly come, so I brought it out to both have a wash and a good drink.

It had a small off-shoot but this seems to have rotted over the winter, but the rest of the plant seems to be coping. I'm sure it would grow more if planted in the ground but then it might be vulnerable to extreme cold and wet of winter. Everything is a toss up. It has survived for at least twelve years now so I'm hoping to keep it going. I do love seeing its wonderful leaves grow and then wave in the wind, and it reminds me often of many sunny times spent in the tropics.
