Whitehaven
Gone orange. I have mentioned the orange water before and I can't give you a definite reason for it. There are theories but not solutions as yet. The doesn't seem to be an immediate solution to the problem. There are a lot of mines around the Whitehaven area and a railway tunnel. It is thought water from old mines is entering the railway tunnel before flowing through a culvert and then into the harbour. All this started in 2022. No one can currently address this problem. We wait for a solution. The harbour water has been 'smoothed' by a long exposure taken before the drizzle arrived at lunchtime.
The only photo taken today.
The chimney is a ventilation shaft for the Wellington Pit and I think you can see a brown boxy building underneath the chimney. It is called 'Edge,' but looks like the 'Ark' to me, an outdoor education building plus other things too.
PS The mist makes it difficult to see the Edge, but it is between the two towers.
