Bird’s-eye Primrose

Primula farinosa. The Latin name comes from the fine white powder which covers the stems and the underneath of the leaves.
It prefers areas with lime rich soils and is doing well around the edge of a local lake which has lots of marl.

Bird song news. Whilst Mrs. K. did more botany I sat on a bench for half an hour and recorded 22 different birdsongs. Only two of them, Grey Lag Goose and Mute Swan, were new for the life list. But I learnt some new ones and it enriched my morning outing.
