Big day today!

It started with a very early morning construction of The Eldest’s new bed, which did turn out to be every bit as easy as first thought.

Then it was a quick trip to the supermarket to get some supplies, a quick tidy of the house before a nice respite of a brew with friends and then up to the train station to collect a returning and a still-slightly-pissed-from-the-night-before Eldest. She was immediately seized upon by her younger siblings who had missed her and were looking forward to a catch up.

The Eldest turned 19 today and as is the way with all parents, the perceived speed of the passage of time once again took my breath away - she used to fit in the crook of my arm, for goodness sake!!

After returning to the house, we were joined shortly thereafter by my parents who helped us devour some lunch and pictured birthday cake. It was nice to catch up with everyone and have the family together. I was only sorry that bad traffic had stopped my sister and her mob from joining us too.

My home has been full of people this weekend and it’s been very loud and lively and rather perfect if the truth be told.

Funny how quickly life can change innit?!

Happy Birthday to The Eldest. I hope she knows how much she is loved and how proud we all are of her and the person she is becoming.
