Waterfall walk
A waterfalls walk.
River leaping and crashing.
Then quiet eddies.
I love walking by a river, it's so varied. The landscape, terrain and the river itself. We went through woodland with steep, slippy, rocky paths, the river roaring beneath, meandered through meadows with the river gently pootling around rocks in its way. There were waterfalls and weirs and rabbits and donkeys. Leo had a blast. Ben was quite good, given the trickiness underfoot and the length of time we were out. We had a very nice time, even though we did get drenched on the last leg back to the car.
The rest of the day we were all tired. Leo the most! At 6:30pm we decided to do a mini village circuit to give Leo chance for his last 'business' and because Ben was getting antsy. That was a mistake. Ben lost his footing on a path he's walked so many times before and properly fell onto a stony path. There was much wailing (Ben) and concern (me). Eventually a man popped up from behind a hedge (one assumes to his garden but it looked more like a field) to ask if we needed assistance. He made quite a comical sight but we decided we were OK. We scooped Ben up, well, I did.. whilst Mr KCNQ2Haiku rescued Leo (who's lead I had just abandoned in the moment) before he made friends with/snarfled the sheep in the neighbouring field :-/ Then we limped home and only bled a little bit on the floor :-( He's now been mopped up and all limbs tested for range of movement. Hopefully the sore knees won't deter him from sleeping..
Honestly can't believe after all the treacherous paths we walked by the river today, that it was 5 mins from home that he fell. Bless him.
Extra was taken by Mr KCNQ2Haiku as I escorted Ben home, post fall :-(
