Nature Diary..Cactus plant
This is the apex of my wonderful cactus plant known as "The Red Headed Irishman".
I have been it's immensely proud owner for several years and have watched it develop from a very small plant to one which is now a flourishing 9 inches tall.
Every year it produces a crown of beautiful pink flowers which are shown here in the main photo taken early this morning whilst they were still 'asleep'.
Later today the flowers will open to display their gentle beauty, which will be another photograph I will post here this afternoon...
Later in the day...
Enjoying the afternoon sunshine the little flowers have been opening to show their delicate beauty (photograph added).
