Deep Purple

In ecstasy this Small Heath butterfly was drinking in the nectar from the newly opened lavender.

Perhaps Britain's commonest butterfly but still lovely to see and chase around the garden :)) Had to be quick as Hubs wanted to mow the lawn and she kept winging onto the grass rarely settling, attracting a fair bit of attention from the males around. She finally found the lavender and as it is a raised bed it was easier to get a shot rather than rolling round on the grass which was very prickly! I was also a tad wary of inadvertently squashing an itinerant bee!

Gardening now calls!!
