Super speedy

Eda on her ’new’ bike!
We are in charge today as Grace and John have gone off to a wedding. Chris took them down to the station for the train to Bristol late morning.

It was a warm and sunny morning but had rained heavily during the night. As soon as Chris was back we loaded the bikes into the car and headed off to Alice Park to get the best of the sun before the forecast rain arrived. When I posted a picture of Eda with her bike in April many commented that the bike looked a bit small for her, we knew that this one was waitIng in the wings but we didn’t know that this was the very first time she had ridden it.

After a bit of an encouraging push to start she was off! No problem! Jude was on the balance bike and Eda’s old red bike is there for her when she is ready.

The park is great for bikes and scooters as there are lots of metalled paths and the bit you can see them on here is a circuit which is used for cycling proficiency. They both had a good time, the only problem was we had to run to keep up with them and they weren’t always together in the same place!

Jude pushed herself into the play area and we gave them both a go on the swings, chatting to the guy next to us, whose daughter is in Jude’s group at pre school and son at the same school as Eda, he told me they were emigrating to North Carolina in July.

We headed to the cafe as a black cloud was looming. The girls got ice creams and we ordered bacon sandwiches. The heavens opened before the sandwiches were ready, but we managed to move from canopied area to the outer terrace of the cafe that’s a bit more weather proof. A good job as it was a real cloudburst.
We waited till it eased and Eda had another cycle while Chris went to bring the car a bit closer.

As we got home the sun came out again but it’s already darkening for the next shower which my iPad tells me is due in 13 minutes. There were groups of folk in T shirts walking up through Bailbrook as we headed out, hope they had all packed waterproofs!
I also hope they manage to avoid the worst of the rain  at the wedding. Won’t know that until tomorrow.

It was a special day and step forward for Eda, we sent photos to Mummy and Daddy  and I think John was a bit choked to have missed it.
