Wet

Woke to rain pattering on the skylight in the cottage.  It had been chilly last night.  We discovered that the boiler for both hot water and any heating wasn't functioning.  The owner was called and a plumber arranged for arrival between 4 and 7pm.

Luckily he arrived shortly after 2pm and was working until just a bit after 6pm.  It was very good of him to work so diligently.  We now have hot water and heating.  We could have coped possibly without heating but not without hot water and there isn't an immersion switch.

The day has been very wet.  We did have a brief, dry interlude in the morning when we ventured into the town to purchase some items then walked home along the sea front.

From midday onwards it has poured relentlessly.  Perfect opportunity to read.  I am reading two books relating to Cyprus.  I'm midway through  Elif Shafak's The Island of Missing Trees and recently acquired Brandy Sour by Constantia Soteriou, a collection of short stories ending with recipes for various local beverages.  It's a charming little book.

My blips are of our post-dinner walk along the sea front.  A very different scene from yesterday.  The temperature was mild.   We could hear birds on the shingle but couldn't see clearly what they were.  The Merlin app in my phone identified sandwich terns.

Back home for a night-time beverage and two plain chocolate squares.  Reading and bed.
