Pretty In Pink
……… a lovely Green Veined White enjoying the prolific flowers on this bush.
My ID app tells me this flower is Pieris, so I assume that’s right. I remember buying the plant from the garden centre many years ago because we were impressed by how many bees were loving it. We had trouble just getting it to the tills because the bees didn’t want to leave it. Having got it to the car we did a final inspection for bees before we put it inside - all clear, phew ……… or so we thought - we were almost home when suddenly there was frantic buzzing from the back seat and a somewhat annoyed bee started zooming all around inside the car - it was clearly a stowaway and had been hiding in the flowers.
However, we didn’t panic ( too much ) and continued to drive the short distance home, hoping that the bee would settle on the flower again - it didn’t.
That probably ranks as one of the more anxiety filled journeys I’ve ever had but thankfully we got home without incident and as we unloaded the plant the bee followed it.
The plant has never flowered as prolifically as that again until this year - and again it’s absolutely covered in bees ;-))
