Not Your Average Fly

Spotted this very colourful fly on some cow parsley this morning..basking in the lovely, very welcome, sunshine. Google tells me it is a Golden Dung Fly.. Scathophaga stercoraria.

Have added an extra of a new crop growing. The lines of seedlings were lit from behind by the sunlight contrasting nicely with the damp soil and I thought the wavy lines made a nice image. I was amazed to see it so advanced…just three weeks the field was being ‘redecorated’.

I think the crop might be maize…they seem to grow it regularly in these fields.
