BAYWATCH
A very warm sunny morning. Got into town a little later than usual and it was just as well as, although busy, apparently it was much worse just a little earlier. There is Cartmel racing on this weekend of course.
For those that do not know, not only is Cartmel famous for being the home of Sticky Toffee Pudding but also for its racecourse. Cartmel Racecourse is a small racecourse in the village of Cartmel, now in Cumbria, historically in Lancashire. They have Nine race days a year, starting on the Whit Holiday weekend at the end of May and ending on the August Bank Holiday weekend in August Bank Holidays. (I have included a couple of links in case you are interested).
I went for a little walk through Yewbarrow Woods and then on down into Grange to meet up with hubby again. After a brunch and trip down to the Hazlemere Bakery for some bread we came home. I stopped off on The Prom to take these photos (see extras).
I am always gobsmacked at how many people venture out onto the sands, especially those venture right out into The Bay due to the very heavily signposted warnings about quick sands and fast tides. Mind you to be fair I'm always over cautious and they probably know more than me, but I would never venture out beyond the marshes myself as the quick sands are continually changing. Maybe there is somewhere you can find out when/if it is safe to venture further!!??
It is very nice to see so many people out enjoying the sunshine though, especially as this is meant to be the best day of the weekend I believe. Very pleasantly warm today, quite hot in sheltered places.
That's all for now, do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
