A day in the life

Beer

I was struck by the amazing colour of the field I passed during my walk today, Barley. This is beer or whisky in the making, or flour, maybe animal feed, grains or porrige. I learned that Barley is an ancient grain that has been cultivated for thousands of years, in the Nordic countries it was the dominating grain for a very long time but has lost a fair bit of its influence to Wheat and Oats. We do actually have Whisky distilleries in Sweden, I know of at least two, one produced in the High Coast region in the north and one on the island of Hven in the south. Both has a very good reputation but aren't yet competing with Irish or Scottish Whiskey/Whisky.

The rain from yesterday has created a new growth-boom among the plants but unfortunately also among the  mosquitos, on the evening news they even warned about an invasion. I rarely have mozzes here but during this wind free evening I saw, and felt them in high numbers.
