The evening before

Woke to a lovely day and packed for the walking trip in the Lake District that me and the wider family are doing over the next few days.  Jono and Sue turned up about 11 and we drove north.  We stopped a couple of times and then at Tebay, the famous service station on the doorstep of the Lakes. Bought a present for JC and then got lost before finding the farm where we were to leave from.

Tom introduced us to the Fell ponies who will accompany us and he and Eliza cooked us a delicious supper and we sat round hearing about the RSPB’s work in the area.  There was a badger hide on the farm and we sat and watched the badgers emerge for their peanuts which were hidden beneath rocks.  I’ll spare you my pictures of them - but it was touching to see up close the species that is so prevalent in our surrounding area.

First night in a tent for God knows how long.  I was sharing with brother Anthony and his dog Honey a now elderly Cockapoo    I was fairly nervous about how well I’d sleep.
