Field of Flowers

This is our field which was mowed last week. I just had to show a picture of the flowers (Hawksbeard) which appeared almost overnight. In the past it has been lupin, but it may just be early for them. Our garden shed is visible on the right hand side of the bottom of the field next to the raised veggie beds behind the big tree, and our house is 32 steps down the hill.

The pothole came down our street last week and instead of two guys chucking asphalt out of the back of a truck our little street was choked with big trucks and even a little earth mover. This was promising as I made my way out through the scrum trying to avoid the mailbox, the boat and numerous cars belonging to the house on the corner. The whole street is one giant pothole so I don't know exactly how they decide where they are going to chuck the asphalt and they seriously miscalculated this time because when I came home again they were all gone having 'run out of asphalt' before they got to our section of the street which is down a steep driveway on the other side of the house.

We came home from our dog walk down the street instead of back through the field to our back gate because I thought that at least the holes would be more visible, but I think from now on I'll take my chances on the holes hidden by a carpet of flowers rather than the ankle breaking cracks in the street. I'm pretty sure the pothole crew won't be back....

I did have to trim Spike's feet as they get so furry that while it may protect him from hot pavement, his feet are also magnets for all the burrs and corkscrew grasses in the field.
