Life through the lens...

Postcard from Shaldon.

Our last day before we set off back to Yorkshire, and it has been glorious. The best this holiday.
Again visiting old haunts.
Unfortunately the hotel where we stayed back in the 1950s and early 60s has been pulled down and they have built apartments. However named after the hotel The Dumore.

The rest of the village hasn’t changed much.
Still have to go through the smugglers tunnel to reach the Ness Cove beach. So exciting when I was a girl.

After morning coffee we had a walk over the bridge to Teignmouth. Very impressed with this seaside town. Some quaint streets and shops in the old town and the beautiful terraces along the front were all well kept.
It was busy today with lots of locals enjoying the good weekend weather.

After a walk along the seafront we caught the ferry back to Shaldon and then cooled down with a shandy sat by the beach looking across the estuary.

Had a walk round and saw some lovely houses, gardens, including the fabulous white wisteria, and pink poppy.
Sat for a while by the village green and bowling club.

We finished off the day with a very enjoyable Italian meal at Amicci back in Torquay.

Feel like we have walked miles, and probably have! It was a beautiful balmy evening as we had a last look at the harbour.
What a great end to our holiday.

A couple of extras of the bridge and Teignmouth.
