Diary of an Edinburgher

Oh no! Not the football jersey again!!

Yes, he’s STILL having to wear the cone, except when out for a walk - even then if he’s a bit away from me, he’ll sit down and have a good ol’ lick at his wound. It is still unable to form a crust and dry up.

I got his old football jersey out again, so that at least he can give his chin and his ears a good scratch as needed. But I think he needs to have the vet look at it again - it really should be healed by now! We’re going on Monday, as I want the vet who operated on him to see him again.

I took him out for a walk, round Astley Ainslee this time. It’s an extensive property, owned by the NHS, and it has various medical facilities and buildings, in gorgeous grounds with huge trees. I was summoned there once years ago after I had my stent. A very overweight nurse lectured me about maintaining a healthy diet now that they’d fixed me up.

JR took him out later. It was actually a very hot afternoon, and I sat in the sunshine listening to podcasts.

The gardener came and I asked him about getting my grass edges cut straight. I have previously used the kitchen scissors to cut the grass overgrowing on the pavers. And a tough job it is too, as it’s like cutting a carpet. He gave me a ‘grass cutter’ implement - you stand on it and slice through the grass carpet. Easy peasy! JR collected all the cut bits. And it looks SO nice.
