Underneath The Arches
Our guest C wished to see the new bridge over the Forth so we drove over the Queensferry Crossing to the Shore Grill and Fish House in the Hilton Hotel for coffee. We knew that there were excellent views of the bridge and its traffic from their picture windows because, some years ago, we watched from there the early stages of the support towers under construction.
From there we drove to North Queensferry to a car park below the Forth Bridge, and sat in sunshine listening to rumble of trains overhead while watching the traffic on the old suspension bridge and the Crossing. As the sun moved round it caught a glazed building in South Queensferry, on the opposite side of the Forth and the glare was reflected across the water, like an artificial sun (see extra photo).
All too soon it was time to return home to collect her bags and we took her down to Waverley for her train home then after a quick meal in the City Restaurant, continued to choir practice.
