Over Yonder

Luke 'n' Sip

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

None of the FOBs were in today. But I hung out with Luke who has not been himself lately.

He is still as ebullient and full of fun as ever, but there's an edge of melancholy. I think he is concerned about his colleagues, plus he's quite over-worked from what I can see.

All the same, when we walked to the lift he bumped into a woman we had previously bumped into five minutes earlier.

"Hello, it's all about you today, isn't it?" he said.

She laughed.

Then she followed us into the lift.

"Oh all right, I'll marry you. You don't have to go all Baby Reindeer," he countered.

It was the same at the coffee shop. He flirted with the woman behind the counter ("Do you come here often?") and then hugged the barista for making him a seahorse coffee.

Luke is a little ray of sunshine. Outwardly.

So I was happy to cheer him up a bit with chat about nothing.

Later I got this text from him:

Thank you so much for getting me out for a coffee. I seem to be engulfed in work lately. I really appreciate your time and our chats.

I am glad I can sunshine back at him occasionally.

S.

p.s. Today's title alludes to the fact that Luke has invited us to do an evening of Paint 'n' Sip at his house.

"Paint 'n' sip?" said Caro. "Isn't that what middle-aged WOMEN do?"

I didn't like to point out her that she is both of these things.
