Sol Invictus

This is Sol Invictus or the Calpe Sputnik as it is known locally and is located at the start of a mile long promenade consisting of hotels, shops and cafes in the town.  According to the plaque nearby it is "an abstract artistic manifestation that aims to represent the sun, a luminous star, source of light and heat, which is the centre of the planetary system in which the Earth is situated"  It was built using more than 2500 kg of old railway steel from a dismantled railway station in Calpe. I prefer the latter description - Calpe Sputnik.  I will keep private my thoughts on what I think of it!
