Prestonhill

We walked a few miles along the Fife Coastal Path and passed this on the way near Inverkeithing. It used to convey stone from the adjacent Prestonhill Quarry onto ships. Some of the stone was used in the construction of both the Forth Rail and Road Bridges but now the disused quarry is sometimes used for diving. Later we watched the enormous Hildegaard crude oil tanker travel up to the Hound Point Oil terminal which is in the background. Just visible is Edinburgh where the huge bulk of the Grand Mistral cruise ship was very prominent while making its way into Leith Docks.
As we sat and had our picnic a bit further on I counted 10 different types of boats visible at one time;
Cruise ship, oil tankers, chemical tanker (Sten Baltic at Braefoot terminal), cargo ship, tugs, pilot boat, Inchcolm ferryboat, sailing yachts, motor cruiser and dinghy.
