Hawthorn

Hawthorn sucks up the light and this one was glowing pinky gold at 8.10am.  I took this at 8.14 so it’s slightly gone over but still a lovely sight.  Those cascading branches of creamy froth that I now see as Hockney painted them.  As he first did I felt it was a bit over the top but now it feels accurate.  I was always taught that it’s bad luck to bring the flowers into the house and nothing would induce me to do so.

A day in the garden trying to do my pots and move things on for summer.  Every year at this time the garden delights and frustrates me. It’s such an odd shape.  I have one bed that should be spectacular but it eats perennials.  It, alongside the deer is now eating the roses that I put in there. I think it’s too dry for them as it’s very sandy.

We had a fancy dinner as it is our 14th anniversary tomorrow. Another Dispatch with a Mexican theme as we got married in Mexico.
